Today hash route is near Silancur Highland. Located at Dadapan, Mangli, Kaliangkrik, Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. From Magelang City, you can go to Bandongan direction, just go straight, and arrive at Market, turn left to Mangli Direction. Because it is located at Mount Sumbing Slope, so the road to go there is uphill and sometimes there’s sharp turn.
With altitude about 1300m above sea level, this place has beautiful scenery. No matter you come here in the morning, or in the evening, each scene has its unique.
This time, our hash route has short and long, and I follow the long route, which trekking nearby hills from car parking to Silancur Highland (the short one, walk along the big road from car parking to Silancur Highland).
We didn’t enter the Silancur Highland because there’s people in there. We still have to social distancing, even we each other has 1m distancing each and always wear our mask. (I only with my 2 friends).
Today we are hashing near Kedung Kayang Waterfall. Because I have a plan to trekking in Mountain on September, so today I decided to join long trek.
We won’t visit the Kedung Kayang Waterfall, instead walk another path.
Kedung Kayang waterfall located in Wonolelo, from Magelang go to Blabak, and turn left to Ketep Pass direction. But, don’t turn left to Ketep Pass, instead turn right to Boyolali direction.
The hash route for long is not too hard this time. First you follow the good path, and in there, we see a beautiful scene: Mount Merapi illuminated with sunrise, while Mount Merbabu didn’t, so it looks like the sun splitting Mount Merapi into 2 color.
After walk quiet far, we turn left and meet the small and steep path. We go down to valley, and then going up, the path is very small and you have to becareful because the soil is wet.
Nothing extreem path in here, and we took 5,22km.
It’s nice to be able to trekking in the mountain with beautiful view.
You can stay here, it’s very peacefull, and the air is very fresh. You can enjoy local food too in here and going around by bicycle.
Walk about 300metres, you will arrive at Ladon Little Island and Pasar Klathakan. From what the staff said, the sand here is white, just like near the beach. So you could feel beach situation in here. And you can ride any boat to go around, take selfie, ride traditional boat from woods, or only sit around the river and buy some locals product in Pasar Klathakan (market).
Too bad, when I arrive here, it’s rainy very hard the night before. So the river is flooding and there’s no white sand.
Butuh Village, is the highest village in Magelang Regency, Central Java. And recently, this village become very famous. People call the village Magelang’s Nepal.
Why Nepal? Actually, I haven’t been in Nepal, so I didn’t know how it looks like. The house building in this village, is built very unique in Mount Sumbing’s slope, from the bottom to uphill, with colorful color, and if we see it from the downhill, it looks like terracing. And with background Mount Sumbing, and blue sky, makes this place very beautiful.
The photospot located at Mount Sumbing basecamp in Kaliangkrik, there’s a photospot in there. And there is also a coffee shop, you can enjoy the beautiful scene with drink coffee. The weather is cold, because you are in 1620 altitude above sea level. Don’t forget to bring jacket when you come here in the morning.
If you want to climb mount Sumbing, this is one of the basecamp that you can take the path.
When the sun is high enough, the fog sometimes come down and hide the scenery.
Dusun Butuh located in Kaliangkrik, Magelang Regency. This place is famous with name Nepal Van Java.
I heard that actually this village is already known before, but nowadays people more openly in selfie and posting it on Social Media, so the influence is bigger than before. That’s why, this place is quiet famous now.
You can walk around the village too, the villagers make some building paint beautifully. But please respect the villagers, keep quiet and polite.
Tongseng is an Indonesian goat meat, mutton or beef stew dish in curry-like soup with vegetables and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). Tongseng is commonly found in Indonesian region of Central Java; from Surakarta to Yogyakarta. However, it is believed that dish was originated from Klego district in Boyolali, Central Java.
The term tongseng derived from Javanese term osengan which refer to “stir frying” to describes its cooking method. It also refer to the “seng” friction sounds of metal frying spoon against metal wok.
The soup is made of ground mixture of garlic, shallot, black pepper, ginger, coriander, galangal, daun salam (Indonesian bay leaves), and lemongrass sauteed with palm oil until it gets aromatic. The diced meat then poured into the sauteed mixture until cooked. Usually the uncooked goat meat from sate kambing (goat satay) are used. Add water until it boiled and add sweet soy sauce with tamarind juice. After the boiled mixture reduces, shredded cabbages and sliced tomato are add to add fresh and crisp texture. Some versions are prepared using coconut milk. Slices of bird’s eye chili might be added for those who prefers extra hot and spicy tongseng soup.
Tongseng is usually served with hot steamed rice. The soup of tongseng is similar to gulai soup, however gulai is cooked without sweet soy sauce while tongseng mostly appears in brownish gold colour because of the addition of sweet soy sauce. Gulai usually uses beef’s offal while tongseng usually only uses meat (goat, lamb, mutton or beef).
This Stan is one of my favourite Tongseng Restaurant, which located at Muntilan City in Central Java, near temple in Muntilan. They are open from 17:00 until sold out, and usually, around 22:00 it has already sold out.
Usually, I will arrive at 16:45 and waiting. Why I come so early? Because if you come late, then the seat will be full already and you have to queue. Usually, at 17:00 when they open, there will be some people already in there. At least, you have to wait 10 portion to be cook. This stan is quiet famous in here.
The meat is tender, and it taste very tasty. Especially when you added Sataw, yummy.. You will forget that you are in diet if you taste it.. Hehe..
Today’s PJJP is going to Purworwjo Regency, Bruno Area. From Magelang, we go to Purworejo direction and when arrive at Maron, turn left to Wonosobo direction. The road is on renovation, you have to becareful.
Then about 19km, turn left to Kutoarjo Direction. After passed Bruno Market, you will passed a bridge and face the trisection, turn right. The road is good but very narrow. It will be hard if there is a car from the opposite.
After about 2.5 hours, we arrive at Curug Gunung Putri Car Parking. Then we eat breakfast first. After fill our stomach, we start to hiking.
Our first destination is Khayangan Peak Sigendol, located about 2km uphill from the car parking. Because it’s a peak, so we have to walk uphill and it’s quiet high.
The view upthere is breathtaking.. Very beautiful..
After take some selfie and enjoy the view, we go back to car parking. On the way downhill is very steep, becareful and beware of your knee because we have to hold our body, and for some senior ir’s quiet difficult.
Our 2nd destination:
Curug Gunung Putri, Curug is another name of waterfall in Indonesia. The waterfall is falling in 2 direction, and the water is very fresh.
After play in the water for a while, we go back to car park and prepare to go home.
This time, we didn’t use the road we depart, instead after arrive at Purworejo-Wonosobo Street, we turn left, and when arrive at Sapuran, turn right and follow the road and you will arrive at Salaman, then go back to Magelang. Why we use another route? Because we didn’t want to passed the renovation road again, it’s very narrow and you have to make turn with the opposite to passed.
Finally, I’m able to make Vlog for this morning walk with at least 50% reporting. I always wants to make vlog about where I go but never made it, because sometimes I forgot, and I didn’t have confidence to speak. Maybe next time, I will write a script so I know what to say haha..
Today’s PJJP / morning walk is in Mount Telomoyo. Some of us didn’t hike until the peak, and some of us hike until the peak. And I’m here, I only hike about 5km, and because I have some senior with me, and fortunately there’s an empty jeep that going up so we ride the jeep.
Mount Telomoyo is a stratovolcano in Central Java, Indonesia. The volcano was constructed over the southern flank of the eroded Pleistocene–ageSoropati volcano, which has a height of 1,300 metres (4,300 ft). The Soropati volcano collapsed during the Pleistocene, leaving a U-shaped depression. Mount Telomoyo grows on the southern side of the depression, reaching over 600 metres (2,000 ft) above the depression’s rim.
We started to hike and about 1.5 km, we found this stone hill. Very beautiful, and heard that it should has a artificial waterfall. But that time, they turn it off because they are building a dragon statue.
Then we arrive at 1st post. The view is amazing.
The road to the peak is very nice, and didn’t difficult at all.
After about 5km, the jeep is coming.
After a while, we arrive at the peak. The scene from the peak is very beautiful.
In the peak, there’s so many antenna.
You can see many mountain from the Mount Telomoyo’s Peak. I don’t know the precise because some of the sky were covered by cloud.
While waiting for the jeep pick us up, we enjoy the view.
Then after the jeep arrive, we go back to the basecamp because we are afraid if everyone is waiting for us already.
Actually, there are many people riding motorcycle to go up and it’s very crowded. Hopefully, they still pay attention to new normal condition: Physical Distancing and wearing mask.
Today is another day for outing, morning walk together. And the destination is Kopeng.
The walk is about 5km with beautiful scenery.
Indonesia is a tropic country and the weather usually 20-30 degree celcius. But some place because located in high place, sometimes the weather could be under 20 degree celcius. And Kopeng, a village near Salatiga is one of them. When we arrive in there at 06:30, it has 17 degree celcius with wind. And it’s really cold.
When we arrive there, I saw this 2 cute little cat running anywhere and play.
Then we started to walk. The road is easy with enough up and down hill And beautiful scenery.
We also passed by Flower and Plant Shop, which each shop designated like a flower garden. Surely those who love flower and plant will love in here and buy some plant.
Then we arrive at Kopeng Tourism Spot, and my mom buy some vegetables to cooking at home. A lot of people in my city like to go to Kopeng to buy some vegetables or fruits. While shopping, we can also enjoy the fresh air and the scenery.
After arrive at the car parking, and eat some snack and drink, the leader offer us to go to a beautiful place which is not far from there. We joint the passenger so we don’t need many car to go there and keep the rest in here.
It took abouf 10-15 minutes to go there but the road is very narrow, only enough for 1 car and located higher than before so you have to use a good car and skillful driver.
We arrive at Bukit Harapan Cuntel. I have changed my shoes to sandals because I’m afraid if my shoes are dirty so the car will be dirty too. And now, we need to climb a little in the sand and my sandal is dirty too 😜
In Bukit Harapan Cuntel, we can see 5 mountains: Mount Sumbing, Mount Sindoro, Mount Andong, Mount Telomoyo, and Mount Gajah Mungkur.
The scenery is very beautiful. I used panorama to take the picture.
Then we plan to go back to the car parking. But don’t know why suddenly, we are arrived at Merbabu Pass, a basecamp for climbing Mount Merbabu via Wekas.
Becareful if you go there, the road is narrow and uphill, with about 30-45 degrees. You should have a perfect car and skillfull driver.
Mount Merbabu is a dormant stratovolcano in Central Java province on the Indonesian island of Java. The name Merbabu could be loosely translated as ‘Mountain of Ash‘ from the Javanese combined words; Meru means “mountain” and awu or abu means “ash“. Elevation: 3.145m.
Today, after we go morning walk, when we arrive at home, there’s a news that Mount Merapi has erupted.
Mount Merapi, Gunung Merapi (Fire Mountain in Indonesian and Javanese), is an active stratovolcano located on the border between Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta provinces, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. It is located approximately 28 kilometres (17 mi) north of Yogyakarta city which has a population of 2.4 million, and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) above sea level.
Smoke can often be seen emerging from the mountaintop, and several eruptions have caused fatalities. Pyroclastic flow from a large explosion killed 27 people on 22 November 1994, mostly in the town of Muntilan, west of the volcano. Another large eruption occurred in 2006, shortly before the Yogyakarta earthquake. In light of the hazards that Merapi poses to populated areas, it has been designated as one of the Decade Volcanoes.
It’s been a long time to have an ash rain, and I didn’t tought this time there’s an ash rain in Muntilan. We just got there, and now we will go there again to eat lunch.
When we arrive there, actually the ash rain has been stop, or maybe very thin, because my car has ash in it’s whole body. At first we can’t see it but because my car is parking, and when we finish eating, you can see that it’s quiet a lot.
