Dadakan Group goes to Sumba — Indonesia — 16-22 September 2019

Sumba, a beautiful island in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia.

Not many people knows about Sumba Island. This island, is located at Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. It’s an island name Sumba. We can go there by flight or boat from Denpasar, Bali or Kupang (NTT).

The transportation in the city is very difficult. We have to rent motorcycle or car in there. Some of the big city in Sumba is Waikabubak (West Sumba) and Waingapu (East Sumba). The other is small village, which hard to access and still very calm. Sometimes, we have to crossed the forest to go to some attraction place.

Sumba, is a must visit place especially for those who love adventure. We need to be healthy to go here because the heat, the road and the location that sometimes we need to trekking and play with water (waterfall).

Mostly, the attraction place in Sumba is beach, waterfall, hills, and village.

Enjoy Sumba D4 # NTT – Indonesia

This is our last day to go touring in Sumba, tomorrow we will go back home.

Our first destination is Puru Kambera Savanna near Puru Kambera Beach. On the way there, we see this tree.

This tree is one of Sakura flower kind which called Konji. And it’s a wild tree, you can found it anywhere in the village. And we are lucky to see one.

Actually, this savanna should be has so many grass but because it’s dry season in Indonesia, so there’s not much of grass in there. The weather is very hot, don’t forget to drink much water.

We only take photo for a while in here because it’s too hot. Then we continue our journey to the next destination. The road to Tanggedu Waterfal Car Park is a little bad and the driver said, it’s fortunately a dry season so the car can smoothly go to the car park. If it’s rainy season, then the driver said it will be hard to use car to go there, we have to use motorcycle.

The Tanggedu Waterfall Car park located inside a housing complex. There’s some bathroom in there so we can change and take a bath after play in the waterfall.

We have to trekking around 1 hours to go to the waterfall, and it’s very very hot. And from the housing complex, we have to passed a big gap which full of limestone sand and it’s very slippery. Some of elders ask the local help to guide them.

Don’t forget to bring face mask and scarf or hat to cover your head from the heat.

There’s a rest area near the entrance of waterfall. You can buy some coconut if you want.

This is the beautiful waterfall that I have ever seen. The water is blue tosca and very clear. And the source is very calm, which is like your own pond. Becareful when you stand at the stone because it’s slippery. You can enjoy snack or coconut in some area.

We play in the water and take some photos for about 5 hours. The guide bring our lunch box in there too.

Before we back to the hotel, we passed by Tenau Hills to enjoy last sunset in Sumba.

Then we go back to hotel for rest. Today is the last day for touring. Tomorrow, we decided to rest in the morning so we can wake up late.

Enjoy Sumba D3 # NTT – Indonesia

Our main destinations today is Waimarang Waterfall. On the way there, we will stop by Tanarara Hills.

Tanarara means red land. The land here is rather reddish. Tanarara is a hill covered with savanna grass which is an authentic view of Sumba Island. At one point on the hilltop in Tanarara, there is a stone tomb that has typical Sumba carvings.

Note: Beware of the sun’s heat, it could be very hot. Don’t forget to bring your hat and scarf.

I think this hills is like Cappadocia Turkey, just there’s no air baloon.

Because of the heat, we didn’t stay long. We go to the next destination, our main destination, Waimarang Waterfall.

On the way to Waterfall, there’s only a desert and it’s too hot outside. And when you see the car park, you won’t know that those are attraction place XD. It didn’t seems like it. And you won’t know if there’s a beautiful waterfall hidden in there if you didn’t ask locals. There’s only locals that sell coconut and provide bathroom (but you better not to use it).

After prepare the swim outfit, then we go trekking. To go to Waterfall, we need to walk around 30-45 minutes. Reminder, do not bring too much stuff, only bring your cameras and handphone. Put it inside waterproof bag. And use a comfortable and anti-slip shoes / sandals.

This is where I have an accident. Because we go downhill and there’s too many falling off leaves, the road is very slippery. I slip and hurt my knees. And didn’t bring any medicine, fortunately there’s someone who bring powder medicine so I use it to stop the bleeding.

It hurts, but I try to not think about it to much. Even when I arrive at the waterfall, my knee is numb and I can’t bend it. But because this is a rare event, I have to go inside the waterfall. And I didn’t regret it. It’s really beautifull.

This is where we arrive at the waterfall. This is called the 1st floor of the waterfall. There’s 2nd floor and 3rd floor in the upstair. You can go there from where the water fall. Too bad, I forgot to record when our guide went there. He is vining from the side to the falling water just like monkey. If I didn’t hurt my knee, maybe I will try to go there to see the beautiful 2nd and 3rd floor. The pond is depth, very depth, maybe around 5 metres. But the one where we go down is very swallow.

After play in the water, we go back to the car parking. It’s better if you walk using your wet clothes because there’s no place to change clothes in there. And when you arrive at the car, your clothes is dry already XD.

And we change clothes inside the car (not in the bathroom). After eat some coconut, we go to the next destination, Walakiri Beach.

This is a special beach because there’s mangrove forest in there. And the sunset is beautiful. Actually, there’s many mangrove tree in there before but knowadays, it just a little. This is the best place to enjoy sunset.

Thanks to our guide, he take a very beautiful picture of our siluet.

Then we go back to hotel to rest.

Jogan Beach with Waterfall, Tepus, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta # Special Region of Yogyakarta – Indonesia

From Jomblang Cave, we continue our journey to Jogan Beach, which located near Siung Beach and Wedi Ombo Beach. It’s so far. Just go to the Siung Beach direction, then after pass the Siung Beach entrance (IDR 3.000/pax), you will see a sign to Jogan. Turn left and follow the road. They renovated the road, so we have to drove slowly. We could see the karst hill on the way to the beach. The car parking cost IDR 5.000/car.

The beach itself, still not fully opened for tourists, the facility is minimum, but many people come there just to enjoy the scene. We can’t swim in there. The waterfall fall directly to the sea, and this is what made Jogan Beach special and many people come to here.

The sea is on tide position. The staff there said, that in the evening, the sea will be on subside position so we could go down.

Arrive at the entrance, we still need to ride car to the parking lot. It tooks almost 20 minutes from the entrance. Car parking fee is IDR 5.000/car.

Then we still need to walk to the waterfall area. In the middle of the path, there’s tree-section. If you want to ride boat, then turn left, but if you just want to enjoy the waterfall, turn right. When we came, the river is overflow, so the boat didn’t operated. Becareful, because of the overflow, the path is slippery.

It’s really crowded maybe because it’s Sunday. Too many people in there, I even can’t see the waterfall.
