Our main destinations today is Waimarang Waterfall. On the way there, we will stop by Tanarara Hills.
Tanarara means red land. The land here is rather reddish. Tanarara is a hill covered with savanna grass which is an authentic view of Sumba Island. At one point on the hilltop in Tanarara, there is a stone tomb that has typical Sumba carvings.
Note: Beware of the sun’s heat, it could be very hot. Don’t forget to bring your hat and scarf.
I think this hills is like Cappadocia Turkey, just there’s no air baloon.
Because of the heat, we didn’t stay long. We go to the next destination, our main destination, Waimarang Waterfall.
On the way to Waterfall, there’s only a desert and it’s too hot outside. And when you see the car park, you won’t know that those are attraction place XD. It didn’t seems like it. And you won’t know if there’s a beautiful waterfall hidden in there if you didn’t ask locals. There’s only locals that sell coconut and provide bathroom (but you better not to use it).
After prepare the swim outfit, then we go trekking. To go to Waterfall, we need to walk around 30-45 minutes. Reminder, do not bring too much stuff, only bring your cameras and handphone. Put it inside waterproof bag. And use a comfortable and anti-slip shoes / sandals.
This is where I have an accident. Because we go downhill and there’s too many falling off leaves, the road is very slippery. I slip and hurt my knees. And didn’t bring any medicine, fortunately there’s someone who bring powder medicine so I use it to stop the bleeding.
It hurts, but I try to not think about it to much. Even when I arrive at the waterfall, my knee is numb and I can’t bend it. But because this is a rare event, I have to go inside the waterfall. And I didn’t regret it. It’s really beautifull.

This is where we arrive at the waterfall. This is called the 1st floor of the waterfall. There’s 2nd floor and 3rd floor in the upstair. You can go there from where the water fall. Too bad, I forgot to record when our guide went there. He is vining from the side to the falling water just like monkey. If I didn’t hurt my knee, maybe I will try to go there to see the beautiful 2nd and 3rd floor. The pond is depth, very depth, maybe around 5 metres. But the one where we go down is very swallow.
After play in the water, we go back to the car parking. It’s better if you walk using your wet clothes because there’s no place to change clothes in there. And when you arrive at the car, your clothes is dry already XD.
And we change clothes inside the car (not in the bathroom). After eat some coconut, we go to the next destination, Walakiri Beach.
This is a special beach because there’s mangrove forest in there. And the sunset is beautiful. Actually, there’s many mangrove tree in there before but knowadays, it just a little. This is the best place to enjoy sunset.

Thanks to our guide, he take a very beautiful picture of our siluet.
Then we go back to hotel to rest.
