Transit in Bali on the way to Sumba NTT # Indonesia

We gonna travelling to Sumba.. Yay… Finally.. This island is really interesting, and I really want to go there.

Sumba is an island in East Nusa Tenggara (wikipedia). It is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands and has an area of 11,059.6 square kilometres (4,270.1 square miles), and the population was estimated to be 755,849 in 2015. To the northwest of Sumba is Sumbawa, to the northeast, across the Sumba Strait (Selat Sumba), is Flores, to the east, across the Savu Sea, is Timor, and to the south, across part of the Indian Ocean, is Australia.

To go to Sumba from my city, we need to take flight from Yogyakarta to Bali first then transit in Bali. Actually, there’s one day flight to Sumba from Yogyakarta transit in Bali, but from my experience because of delay, my guests missed their flight from Bali to Sumba. So I decided, we stay in Bali for 1 night.

Transit in Bali, you can rent car or motorcycle. This time, I rent a hiace because we are 11 people.

Our destination in Bali is east Bali, Tirta Gangga Water Palace and Ujung Water Palace.

We fly with Airasia from Yogyakarta at 08:15.

Arrive at Bali at 10:45. The driver has already waiting for us. After eating lunch, we go to our first destination. It took about 2.5 hours to go there from near I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Denpasar.

Tirta Gangga Water Palace (wikipedia)

Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace in eastern Bali, Indonesia, about 5 kilometres from Karangasem, near Abang. Named after the sacred river Ganges in Hinduism, it is noted for the Karangasem royal water palace, bathing pools and its Patirthan temple. The one hectare complex was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangasem but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963.

This place is very beautiful. When we go there, there’s a ceremony.

From Tirta Gangga Water Palace, we go to Ujung Water Palace. It took about 30 minutes to go there.

Ujung Water Palace (wikipedia)

In the Dutch East Indies era, this place known by the name Waterpaleis. The palace three large pools. In the middle of the pool, there is the main building named Gili Bale, connected to the edge of the pool by bridge.

The interesting place in this Ujung Water Palace is the building in the uphill. We have to climb the stairs.

At night, we go shopping at Krisna Market. Then go to hotel for rest.

We stay at Harris Hotel Airport Tuban Bali. I choose this hotel because they have free shuttle to go to Airport and it tooks only 5 minutes to go to Airport.
